Create a Lasting Legacy: Establish a Named Scholarship with NDAF

The National Dental Association Foundation (NDAF) invites individuals, families, organizations, and corporate partners to create a Named Scholarship in support of our mission to empower the next generation of oral health professionals dedicated to advancing health equity and excellence in the dental profession.

When you fund a scholarship, you do more than cover tuition—you launch a career. Your support equips aspiring dental dental students to innovate, serve, and improve oral health outcomes for all. Moreover, a named scholarship is a meaningful way to honor a loved one or commemorate a legacy.

Two Ways to Establish a Named Scholarship

  1. Named Non-Endowed Scholarship
  • Minimum Contribution: $10,000 payable as a lump sum or pledged over a period of up to four years in amounts consistent with planned annual scholarship award(s).
  • Award Structure: Donors may provide one or more one-year scholarships or establish annually renewable scholarships for up to four years, contingent on the recipient’s satisfactory academic progress. one or more four-year scholarships, with distribution determined by donor preference, total donation amount, and payment schedule. Award criteria is in consultation with NDAF to reflect donor preferences.
  • Naming Options: May reflect donor’s name or honor an individual, organization, or mission-aligned purpose.
  • Best For: Donors who want to see an immediate and direct impact on students’ educational journeys.
  1. Named Endowed Scholarship An endowed named scholarship creates a permanent legacy. The principal gift is invested, and a portion of the earnings is used annually to fund scholarship awards in perpetuity.
  • Minimum Contribution: $50,000 – payable as a lump sum or in pledged installments over a period of up to five years.
  • Award Structure: Annual distribution based on NDAF’s spending policy (typically 4–5%) while preserving the principal gift to ensure long-term sustainability.
  • Award Timing: The first scholarship will be awarded 12 months after the initial deposit date.
  • Naming Options: May reflect donor’s name or honor an individual, organization, or mission-aligned purpose.
  • Ideal For: Donors who wish to build a permanent legacy that supports students year after year, generation after generation.
